Nepal is a country in South Asia, home to eight of the world's highest mountains including Mount Everest. It is one of the poorest countries globally. The country is still recovering from the devastating earthquake in 2015.
We started supporting the village Thokarpa in the hilly district of Sindhupalchok in 2017. A 15 bed community hospital is soon to be inaugurated and will be run as a collaboration between the local government, the non profit Nepali NGO Ek Ek Paila (nepali: "Step by Step") with some support from the non-governmental organization Sweden Nepal Society.
We provide additional technical, human resource and financial support. For example, we have financed the education of a staff nurse that has started her work at the hospital, as well as we support the studies of a lab technichian, who will as well soon start working there. We support a public health project focusing on the use of menstrual cups in Thokarpa as well as in other rural areas of Nepal.
